How to Hold On Employees

Why do employees leave their jobs, and what can companies do to keep their talent? In this video, Dennis Bams explores what companies can learn from employees who have actually left. Rather than focusing on employees’ intentions to quit, the research looks at real-world behaviour by analyzing more than 700,000 Glassdoor reviews from employees of US-listed companies.

Using AI to analyse both extrinsic factors, such as pay and promotion, and intrinsic factors, such as autonomy, recognition and meaningful work, the research reveals an important insight: meaningful work plays a much greater role in employee retention than money

Dennis Bams explains how this finding applies across different types of workers and companies, and why organisations may need to rethink how they design work if they want to retain their talent in a rapidly changing world.
